Most comprehensive and inspiring book on the subject of food dehydration

A most comprehensive and easy to understand book for dehydrating and reconstituting food at home. The Cookbook is great for anyone starting out on food dehydrating as well as for those who are already working with dehydrating food at home. Those looking to be introduced to food dehydrating should definitely see Tammy's YouTube videos (Dehydrate2Store). These are very informational and give plenty of useful, practical tips. The videos convinced me to buy the book. The only useful thing missing from this wonderful book is a list of resources for tools and equipment.

However, there is a fairly comprehensive listing of dehydrating equipment and tools on the Dehydrate2Store website and it is advisable to go through these first if one is looking for such resources. It will save a lot of time. Instead of browsing through individual search listings on Amazon, one can short-list the items first and then look at the items on Amazon for reviews, usefulness and reliability.

It is absolutely the BEST dehydrator book I have

EVERYONE should have THIS BOOK!
It is absolutely the BEST dehydrator book I have, and I have Mary Bell's, Ball Blue Book, and several others.
Tammy Gangloff lays out dehydration in SIMPLE steps, LOGICAL sections, Brief yet to the point, with TIPS and insights which only come for experience. I have 3 Excalibur dehydrators and have been dehydrating for over a decade, and found LOTS of USEFUL, Easy to Grab info while dehydrating, and even new wonderful recipes (for example drying cucumbers and making refrigerator pickles, and several Salsa Mix recipes!) I'm ecstatic! Tammy Rocks!

Worth buying

This book is hefty it has lots and lots of recipes and information.

However I will say that the other reviewer was right it does have recipes that call for corn syrup and bisquik among other things that I personally don't care for (like cream of condensed soups, powdered cheese, powdered milk and lots of sugar). Seeing that for myself was very disappointing but I think the corn syrup could be substituted with honey, maple syrup, agave (if you're into that) or other alternative sweeteners.

I have updated my review with pictures of a couple recipes showing the corn syrup and bisquik.

I'd still buy and recommend the book just because it has so many different recipes for you to try and lots of information you can benefit from. But it would've been nice knowing that it does use corn syrup in a LOT of recipes as well as other conventional food products. But this book can be very inspiring if you just take it with a grain of salt :)

Highly recommended for philosophers !

This lucid and important book was considered by Schopenhauer as the introduction to his magnum opus "The World as Will and as Representation". It can be conceived as Schopenhauer's alternative version to Kant's "Critique of Pure Reason" as an attempt to map all A-PRIORI knowledge. Schopenhauer, an obvious sequel to Kant, differentiates himself from Kant in this book in two basic assumptions: 1. There is no distinction between REPRESENTATION and OBJECT. We perceive objects directly, not through a subjective "buffer". 2. PERCEPTION is not logically independent of UNDERSTANDING, on the contrary. We perceive objects (necessarily) already understood, i.e. determined and related to other objects. Schopenhauer interprets the last premiss as the Principle of Sufficient Reason, which he claims to be the root of all A-PRIORI knowledge.

Fundamental Literature

I am happy to encourage any reader to Schpenhauer's doctoral thesis, just as much as he himself did in the introduction of the World as Will and Representation. The book is absolutely worth the time spent, and it is indeed a coherent prime step (though this is a revised edition of the 1814 original) to Schopenhauer's philosophical system. The translation by E.F.Payne is product of a life's effort. It is almost impecable and will stand to the demands of the accurate reader, though it may be advisable to compare and review the original in order to look for the literary sound of the ideas exposed. Schopenhauer is one of those rare cases where highly expressive prose correlates smoothly with mighty philosophical meaning. He may also be an excellent way to perfect our understanding of Kant.

Minor Problem

This amazing treatise on human knowledge has one little fault. The editors at Open Court left out eleven words in the Tranlator's Introduction. This omission should gratify present-day philosophers in that it turns Schopenhauer's words into modern-sounding nonsense. I will surround the omitted words with parentheses. On page xx, Schopenhauer is quoted: " ...so that I cannot hope ever to find a more correct and accurate expression of that core of my philosophy (than what is there recorded. Whoever wishes to know my philosophy) thoroughly and investigate it seriously must take that chapter into consideration." You see, the occurrence of the word "philosophy" twice in close proximity utterly confused them. I notified Open Court but did not receive an acknowledgement. Other than this, I have to judge this book as one of the few life-changing writings that occur a few times every century. For laughs, read Heidegger's "Principle of Reason" and compare the two.

Well, one day I was sitting around trying to organize my recipes, and I realized that I should put them into a personal collection. One thing led to another, and here’s EveryDayCook. There’s still plenty of science and hopefully some humor in here (my agent says that’s my “wheelhouse”), but unlike in my other books, a lot of attention went into the photos, which were all taken on my iPhone (take that, Instagram) and are suitable for framing. As for the recipes, which are arranged by time of day, they’re pretty darned tasty. Highlights include: 
 
• Morning: Buttermilk Lassi, Overnight Coconut Oats, Nitrous Pancakes 
• Coffee Break: Cold Brew Coffee, Lacquered Bacon, Seedy Date Bars

About the Author
Alton Brown used to direct TV commercials and cook on the side. Then he got the crazy idea to go to culinary school and reinvent the food show. The result: Good Eats, which kept Brown gainfully employed for fifteen years and earned him a Peabody Award. Along the way he also hosted Iron Chef America and Feasting on Asphalt and wrote seven books in his spare time. In 2013 he launched a live culinary variety show called The Edible Inevitable tour, which played to sold out theaters across the United States. In the spring of 2016, Brown’s new live show, Eat Your Science, toured forty U.S. cities. Brown also hosts the insanely popular Cutthroat Kitchen on Food Network.

The fantastic knowledge of Zienkiewicz is made comprehensible thanks to the great communication skills of Morgan.
A surprisingly light to read book of a usually difficult to digest field.
If you are looking for an "Gate-opener" book into Finite Element Methods this is it... don't think it twice...and it soooo cheap.

Tired of poor quality goods made of cheap materials? Make it yourself! I bought this book for my husband and as soon as he saw the contents he declared "This book has EVERYTHING!" If you're crafty or if you're into self-sufficiency, this book is a must-have for your library. Written by a man who learned from a master, my husband is right; this book has EVERYTHING!

great little book

there is nothing wrong with this book there maybe some information that is a little off, but who cares the rest of the info is worth learning I am new to being a blacksmith but I have been welding and using a torch for about 40 years so this info is very easy to understand for me but if you have had any experience with metal working this is a very good book do not let the bad reviews deter you from this fine work on blacksmithing and do not forget blacksmiths do not shoe horses farriers do that job. Blacksmiths make the tools so the other craftsmen have something to work with besides rocks! And remember you are not fat just calorically enhanced!

good read - techniques and tooling

I'm still reading this book. The first few chapters are a bit dry, but do set the scene for the rest of the book. I had to laugh when the author said blacksmithing is on the rise.. around here any blacksmithing gear is bought up by yuppies who hang the tools on their wall and call it period art... it means the demand is high, but it doesn't mean the yuppies know which end of the hammer to hold, just that it suits the dining room better than the kitchen decor.
The book... once in the real meat of the book (chapter 4 on) there is good instructional material, and more than adequate diagrams (single line and monochrome sketches) to assist the reader in learning the techniques and methods. There is a strong focus on the older techniques, but some mention of the newer technologies being used by modern hobbiests and adherents. There is enough diversity in the content to appeal to bladesmiths, farriers, armourers (SCA), and wrought iron workers, although the focus is definitely on wrought work, and general techniques.

She is an independent consultant with more than 17 years of Information Technology experience. Kerrie was responsible for evangelizing SMS while a Sr. Technology Specialist (TSP) at Microsoft. She was a member of the Management Insiders Group and has presented on System Center technologies at TechEd and MMS.

Jason Sandys, Enterprise and Client Management MVP, is a Technology Evangelist and Principal Consultant for Catapult Systems LLC, with just under 20 years of experience in a wide range of technologies, environments, and industries.
